American beech

American beech is a distinctive tree with nearly white bark. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and full sun, but it will tolerate shade. It has a very shallow root system, making it difficult to grow grass under it. American beech reaches a mature height of 50 to 70 feet with a similar spread.
